Founded on the vision of Mrs. Sangita Jindal and driven by the JSW Foundation, Tamanna School is a dedicated haven for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) across rural Ballari. What began as a single classroom has blossomed into a holistic, child-centered institution providing tailored special education, professional therapies, and vital vocational training completely free of charge. By breaking down social stigmas and fostering independent living, Tamanna School transforms silent cries for attention into vibrant expressions of confidence, dignity, and purpose.

A New Home for 100 More Dreams

Recognising that special children require spacious, purpose-built environments and expanded counselling facilities, JSW Foundation invested INR 3.2 crores to construct a brand-new Tamanna building within the OP Jindal Complex. The new facility — inaugurated by Shri Rajashekhar Pattanashetty, President, JSW Steel Vijayanagar Works — now accommodates more than 100 students and sets a new benchmark for inclusive education infrastructure in Karnataka.

With the setup of the new building at the Tamanna School in Toranagallu, JSW Foundation has facilitated the development of children with intellectual disabilities by providing space for another 100 students.

JSW Foundation is dedicated to the cause of ensuring equitable development for all. Keeping this in mind, JSW Foundation had built Tamanna School at the OP Jindal Centre in Toranagallu.

In midst of this journey, we realized that special children have special needs. They need a spacious environment and additional counselling facilities. With the limited space in the OP Jindal Centre, this was becoming increasingly difficult. Recognizing this impediment of space, the JSW Foundation has come up with a new Tamanna building at the OP Jindal Complex. The newly constructed building can now accommodate more than 100 students. The building was inaugurated on Wednesday by Shri Rajashekhar Pattanashetty, President JSW Steel Vijayanagar Works, in the presence of senior JSW Executives and teachers along with the overjoyed children of the Tamanna School.

The School is currently focusing on the academic improvement of each student. Taking this forward, a personalized education plan will be designed for each and every Tamanna student. Besides this, the Tamanna School will extend its support to JAV (Jindal Adarsh Vidyalaya) and JVM (Jindal Vidya Mandir) schools by helping students through remedial teaching services on a regular basis.

Tamanna School for specially-abled children was started in the year 2008 by Mrs. Sangita Jindal, Chairperson, JSW Foundation. It was her vision to start the school to provide quality education and services related to specially-abled children. Back then, the school was inaugurated with just 4 students; currently the school has 102 enrolled students.

With a rich heritage in education, we bring together innovative teaching methods and practical learning experiences. Our focus is on creating an environment that not only fosters academic achievement but also encourages personal growth and development.
